Lesson Plan 2: Molly and the Mathematical Mysteries
Objective: After reading "Molly and the Mathematical Mysteries" students will use Canva to create their own math riddle poster that other students will then solve.
Standards: ELA 9.22: "Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, well-chosen details, and well-structured event sequences."
Procedure:
1.) Students will read "Molly and the Mathematical Mysteries"
2.) After reading it, students will think up their own mystery that can be solved through reading clues and solving math problems.
3.) They will form their ideas on a Canva poster
4.) After completing their poster, they will partner up with another student.
5.) Each student will try to solve their partners mystery.
Assessment: Students will be assessed by the quality of their poster, if they can work out the mystery, and if they created their own mystery.
Exceeds expectations:
Student reads the book, creates a thoughtful mystery on a well designed poster, and solves another students.
Meets expectations:
Student reads the book, creates a mystery on Canva, and solves or comes close to solving another students
Below expectations:
Student does not read the book, create their own mystery, or work with another student to solve theirs.
